Research published in JEMPI must comply with applicable ethical standards, institutional requirements, and relevant laws. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting protect participants and preserve research integrity.

Research Involving Human Participants

Research involving human participants must protect dignity, rights, safety, privacy, and confidentiality. Where required by an institution, jurisdiction, funder, or the nature of the study, approval from an appropriate ethics review body must be obtained and reported in the manuscript.

Informed Consent

Informed consent must be obtained when applicable. Research involving minors or vulnerable participants requires additional safeguards and appropriate consent or assent procedures.

Educational Settings and Power Relationships

Studies involving students, teachers, school leaders, lecturers, or institutional staff must take particular care to minimize coercion and power imbalance. Participation should be voluntary, and academic status, grades, employment, or access to services should not be improperly linked to participation.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Personal information should be collected and reported only to the extent necessary for the research. Identifiable information must not be published without an appropriate legal and ethical basis and, where required, consent for publication.

Data Integrity

Research data must be collected, analyzed, stored, and reported honestly. Fabrication, falsification, selective manipulation, or misleading omission of data is prohibited.

Ethics Documentation

Editors may request ethics approval documentation, consent information, data-management details, or other supporting evidence when necessary. If formal ethical review was not required, authors may be asked to explain the basis for that determination.
