Stage 1 – Submission

The corresponding author submits the manuscript and all required metadata through the JEMPI OJS. The author must use the current article template, provide complete metadata and declarations, and submit the manuscript only to JEMPI while it is under consideration.

Stage 2 – Administrative Screening

The Editorial Office checks required files, manuscript format, author metadata, declarations, and compliance with the basic submission requirements. Incomplete submissions may be returned to the author for correction before academic assessment.

Stage 3 – Scope, Ethics, and Similarity Screening

The manuscript is checked for relevance to JEMPI’s Focus and Scope, basic publication-ethics requirements, and textual similarity. Similarity results are interpreted contextually and are not used as an automatic acceptance or rejection rule.

Stage 4 – Academic Screening

The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor evaluates originality, academic contribution, methodological adequacy, clarity, relevance, and readiness for external peer review. A manuscript that clearly does not meet JEMPI standards may receive a desk rejection.

Stage 5 – Reviewer Assignment

A suitable manuscript is assigned to at least two independent reviewers whose expertise is relevant to the manuscript. JEMPI uses a double-blind peer-review model, and conflicts of interest are considered when assigning reviewers.

Stage 6 – Peer Review

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript and submit comments and recommendations through OJS. Editors monitor the relevance, quality, independence, and timeliness of the review reports. Reviewer recommendations inform but do not automatically determine the editorial decision.

Stage 7 – Revision

When revision is requested, authors submit a revised manuscript together with a clear response to editor and reviewer comments. More than one revision round may be required. A revised manuscript may be returned to the same reviewers or sent to other reviewers when necessary.

Stage 8 – Editorial Decision

Based on the manuscript, reviewer reports, author responses, and journal policy, the Editor-in-Chief or authorized editor issues the editorial decision. Possible outcomes include revision, resubmission for review, acceptance, or rejection. Acceptance is granted only after the manuscript has satisfactorily completed the required editorial and review stages.

Stage 9 – Copyediting

Accepted manuscripts undergo language, consistency, citation, reference, metadata, and journal-style checks. Copyediting must not alter the authors’ substantive claims without consultation.

Stage 10 – Production and Proofreading

The accepted manuscript is prepared for publication, including layout, metadata verification, licensing information, final quality control, and DOI preparation or registration when the DOI service is active. Authors may be asked to review the proof for typographical or production errors.

Stage 11 – Publication

The final article is published in the assigned issue according to JEMPI’s publication schedule in April and October. The publication date recorded in OJS reflects the actual date of publication and is not backdated. Final article metadata must be consistent between the OJS record and the published file.
