Conflict of Interest Policy

JEMPI requires authors, editors, and reviewers to disclose relationships or interests that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, scholarly judgment.

Authors

Authors must disclose relevant financial, professional, personal, academic, institutional, or other competing interests. Funding sources and the role of the funder should be stated when relevant.

Reviewers

Reviewers must decline an assignment when a significant conflict may compromise independent assessment, including close personal or professional relationships, direct competition, recent collaboration, supervisory relationships, significant financial interests, or other circumstances that create a reasonable concern about impartiality.

Editors

Editors must not handle manuscripts for which they have a significant conflict of interest. The manuscript must be reassigned to another qualified editor. A manuscript authored by a member of the editorial team remains subject to the journal's normal independent review process.

Institutional Relationships

Shared institutional affiliation does not automatically establish a conflict, but JEMPI considers whether independence can reasonably be maintained and seeks reviewer diversity whenever possible.

Undisclosed Conflicts

If a relevant conflict is discovered during or after the editorial process, JEMPI will assess its significance and may require a disclosure, reassign the manuscript, obtain additional review, issue a correction, or take other appropriate action.
