Editorial Process
JEMPI manages manuscripts electronically through Open Journal Systems (OJS). The editorial process is designed to ensure traceability, transparency, consistency, and accountability from submission to publication.
- Submission. The corresponding author submits the manuscript and required metadata through OJS. JEMPI does not charge a submission fee.
- Administrative Screening. The editorial team checks the required files, manuscript format, author metadata, declarations, and compliance with basic submission requirements.
- Scope, Ethics, and Similarity Screening. The manuscript is assessed for relevance to JEMPI’s focus and scope, publication ethics, and textual similarity. A manuscript may be returned for correction or declined at this stage.
- Academic Screening. The Editor-in-Chief or assigned editor evaluates the manuscript’s originality, academic contribution, methodological adequacy, clarity, and readiness for external review. Manuscripts deemed insufficiently suitable may receive a desk rejection.
- External Peer Review. Suitable manuscripts are sent to at least two independent reviewers under the double-blind peer review model.
- Revision. Authors revise the manuscript and submit responses to editorial and reviewer comments. More than one round of revision may be required.
- Editorial Decision. The Editor-in-Chief or authorized editor makes the editorial decision based on the manuscript, reviewer reports, author responses, and journal policies.
- Copyediting. Accepted manuscripts are reviewed for language quality, consistency, references, citations, metadata accuracy, and compliance with the journal style. Substantive author claims are not altered without consultation.
- Production and Proofreading. Accepted manuscripts are prepared for publication, including layout preparation, metadata verification, licensing information, and DOI registration when the DOI service is active. Authors may be asked to review proofs for production-related errors.
- Publication. Articles are published in the assigned issue according to JEMPI’s publication schedule in April and October. The publication date recorded in OJS reflects the actual publication date and is not backdated.
All editorial decisions and correspondence are recorded through OJS as part of the journal’s editorial documentation.
